Private Tutoring: Creative & Academic Writing

Does your child spend hours staring at a blank piece of paper, struggling to begin their writing assignments?

Or is your child constantly creating characters and worlds, hungry for opportunities to express their imagination?

For over five years, I have worked with both enthusiastic and reluctant writers of all ages. My work has included engaging pre-K and kindergarten students in foundational reading and writing skills; running creative writing, essay writing, and literary analysis one-on-one sessions and camps; developing and publishing novels and poetry anthologies with students; preparing students for the English sections of the ISEE, SAT, and ACT exams; and more.

My students have published work in national youth magazines including Stone Soup, iWRITE, Creative Communication, and Teen Ink and received awards from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Many of my students come in disliking reading and writing and leave with a newfound joy and increased confidence.

I offer private one-on-one sessions and group sessions for pre-K through college age students, focused on:

-Creative Writing

-Essay/Academic Writing

-Paired Art & Writing Classes

-Novel Creation & Development

-Bar/Bat Mitzvah Speech Writing

-College Admission Essay Writing

-Remote Editing

-Liberal Arts College Coursework Support

Parent Testimonials

“Danielle is always in search of exciting opportunities that enhance her student’s goals and writing styles. With Danielle’s help and guidance, my daughter submitted a poem to a youth writing competition through Creative Communications, and her poem will be published in their 2022 collective of short stories and poems. As a teacher, Danielle is a warm and honest communicator who uses encouragement to guide her students. Her personality and sweet demeanor have helped my daughter express vulnerability and vitality.” — Parent of 6th grade student

“Our family has worked with Danielle for four years. Danielle approaches each student with unparalleled patience, compassion, and empathy. Danielle has a unique way of connecting with her students and creating a safe space for them. This is what sets her apart as a teacher and mentor, beyond her substantial knowledge of reading techniques and the creative writing process.”— Parent of 7th & 10th grade students

“Before working with Danielle, my son had developed poor habits. Danielle truly got to know my son and truly cared about his progress. Danielle challenged him, laughed with him, and nurtured him. She taught him how to slow down, navigate, decode, use context clues, and so much more. Danielle truly understands child development and how to individualize a course of study.” — Parent of 4th grade student
